Movies To Watch

Here are some reviews I did on some movies, so take a look and if you haven't seen some of them yet and are looking for something to rent, check them out!

ACTION ADVENTURE/FANTASY MOVIES:

Pirates of the Caribbean Saga
If you know me, you probably know that I am obsessed with this series, so of course I will have to start the reviews with these movies, and I will try not to let my obsession for the movies influence my review;)
So, there are three parts of these movies on DVD, but the fourth is still in some theaters.
TITLES IN SERIES: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl(2006), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest(2006), Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End(2007), and Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides(2011)
STARRING: Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush, and Penelope Cruz
RATED: PG-13, note that I will also share what rating I think is appropriate for the movie, and I agree PG-13 is an appropriate rating for this one. It has some intense action scenes, quite a bit of violence, and some potentially scary scenes.
REVIEW: All four movies(from Disney, based on the Magic Kingdom ride) are about the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp), and they are certainly action-packed and have great storylines. They are a great mixture of action and fantasy and have a sort of humorous side to them as well(which is probably one of the reasons I'm hooked!)Also, how can you beat Johnny Depp? He is my favorite movie actor and he is amazing as Jack Sparrow. In my opinion, the fourth movie is the best so far, the storyline was fresh, and not drawn out too much, as some fans thought the third movie was. All in all, I certainly give them 5/5

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
TITLES IN SERIES: Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King
STARRING; Elijah Wood, Vigo Mortisen, Liv Tyler
RATING: PG-13, which is a appropriate rating because there is a lot of violence, and a lot of scary creatures.
REVIEW: Lets start with their only bad point, even though there is only three movies in the series, they are all VERY long and drawn out, they could have made them a lot shorter. But anyway, the movies are about Frodo the hobbit(Elijah Wood) who comes across a very powerful ring that starts to take control over him. So the movies are following Frodo(with help from lots of new friends) on a journey to the only pit where the ring can be destroyed while their whole world around them is fighting for it's power. Sound exciting? It is! I give it a 4/5, only because of how drawn out it is, or it would've been a 5/5

Prince of Persia(2010)
STARRING: Jake Gyllenhaal
RATING: PG-13 which is a fine rating, there is lots of intense sword fighting, and non-stop action
REVIEW: This is a movie from Disney, about Dastan(Jake Gylenhaal),a man who was adopted into the royal Persian family, who comes across a magical dagger that can transport you back in time. You can obviously imagine the adventures he has with it in this action-packed movie. The story line is great, the action-packed scenes keep you hooked, and Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing in it. This movie is definitely worth watching, and it's a 5/5 for me!

Race To Witch Mountain(2009)

STARRING: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Annasophia Robb
RATING: The actual rating is PG but I would have given it a PG-13 rating because of the intense action scenes, violence, and a potentially scary-to-younger-kids alien:)
REVIEW: This movie(from Disney, and a remake of the classic Disney movie, Escape To Witch Mountain) is about a cab driver(Dwayne Johnson) who happens to pick up two teenage aliens and gets involved in their adventure to save their planet. Now, I'm not usually a fan of Sci-fi (I can't stand Star Wars) but this movie has just the right amount and keeps you interested the whole time, and a big plus is Dwayne Johnson, he is an amazing actor. I would give it a 4/5.

The Chronicles Of Narnia Trilogy
TITLES IN SERIES:The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe(2005), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian(2008), and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader(2010)
RATING: PG, which is appropriate, there is a tiny bit of action and violence, but not a whole lot and these movies are great for kids too.
REVIEW: All these are about the magical land of Narnia that three kids find themselves in, and they have wonderful hidden Christian meanings in them. They have great story lines, cool creatures, and awesome special effects. I would give these movies 5/5, especially since they are great for people of all ages.

COMEDY MOVIES:

Bedtime Stories(2008)
STARRING:Adam Sandler
RATING: PG for "rude humor" (blaaah)
REVIEW: This is one of my favorite comedy movies ever! It is about a hotel maintence man named Skeeter Bronson(Adam Sandler) who is looking after his sisters kids, and everytime he tells them a bedtime story, the next day whatever happened in the story happens to him! It is hilarious, and great for people of all ages. Definitely a 5/5 for me:)

Old Dogs(2010)
STARRING: Robin Williams and John Travolta
RATING: PG for "rude humor". I would agree with this rating, it does have a few things that might not be great for little kids in it.
REVIEW: This movie is about two men that must look after the one man's(Robin Williams) girlfriends kids(kinda like the Bedtime Stories type idea). But the only problem is, they know nothing about kids! It's has some definite laugh-out-loud moments, and Williams and Travolta were great in it! I would give it a 4/5.

The Tooth Fairy(2010)
STARRING: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Ashley Judd
RATING: PG, which is a fine rating, it has a bit of "rude humor" and some sports action
REVIEW: This film is about a hockey player, who tells his girlfriends kid that the tooth fairy isn't real, and is suddenly turned into a tooth fairy himself! It is very clever and really funny, and it's great for people of all ages, plus The Rock is in it, so how can you go wrong;) It's a 4/5.

BandSlam(2009)
STARRING: Vanessa Hudgens, Lisa Kudrow, and Alyson Michalka
RATING: PG, an appropriate rating, because I wouldn't reccommend it for children under 10.
REVIEW: This movie is about a high school outcast who moves to a new state with his mother(Lisa Kudrow), in hopes he will get away from the drama of his last school, and befriends Charlotte(Alyson Michalka), the most popular girl, and together they start an amazing band. The movie is full of funny adventures, and catchy songs, plus some dramatic elements too. I would most certainly give it a 5/5!

The Game Plan(2008)
STARRING: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Maddison Pettis
RATING: PG, but I think it should be rated G because it is completely clean.
REVIEW: This film is about a self-centered football player(Yes, Dwayne Johnson again;) who is suddenly surprised by his eight year old daughter he never even knew he had(Maddison Pettis) showing up at his door. It is great fun to watch him slowly become a real father, and it is a hilarious movie, one of my very favorites. Obviously a 5/5:)

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Series
TITLES IN SERIES: Diary of a Wimpy Kid(2010) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules(2011)
RATING: PG, it does have some rude humor in it, so this is appropriate.
REVIEW: These movies are about Greg Heffley, and his life as a middle schooler. They are based off the books by Jeff Kinney, and they are HILARIOUS:D They are really clever, and great for all ages too! I cannot help but laugh out loud when I watch these movies! I would say that the second is better than the first, but I give them both 5/5!

I hope I helped you consider new movies to watch, and I would love to hear your opinion on these movies, and also I would love for you to share some of your favorite movies with me, comment!
I might make a second movie review post as well with some more themes so be on the lookout!
